Features
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a synthetic nonionic cellulose derivative and one of the derivatives of hydroxymethylcellulose (HMC). It is prepared by reacting cellulose with chlorinated acrylates and methyl chlorides. HPMC is dissolved in water to form a transparent colloidal solution with excellent adhesion, stability and rheology, so it is widely used in building materials, medicine, cosmetics, food and other fields.

Applications
Capsule grade hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is mainly used to prepare capsules. Its applications include but are not limited to the following aspects:
Drug coating: Capsule-grade HPMC can be used as a drug coating agent to coat solid particles or granules to improve the taste, stability and release characteristics of the drug.
Capsule molding: HPMC can be used as a molding agent for capsules to help maintain the shape and structure of the capsule and ensure the stability and release performance of drug ingredients.
Controlled-release preparations: In controlled-release preparations, capsule-grade HPMC can be used as a sustained-release agent to help adjust the release speed and time of the drug to achieve sustained or timed release.
In general, capsule-grade HPMC plays an important role in the preparation of capsules and can improve the stability, taste and release properties of drugs, so it is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry.
